Participation in choir offers a child the chance to experience the joy of singing and the opportunity to sing with a group of excited and disciplined peers. In addition, your child learns about different styles of music and some basic musical concepts as they pertain to the selections we work on. Lastly, your child will have the privilege of standing up in front of an audience and bringing to fruition all of the hard work and energy he/she has put forth. We will have great memories made together. We hope that choir will be an enjoyable experience for all families that are involved, and to ensure this, we must follow a set of guidelines.

Commitment Agreement

As a member of Harmonix, each student needs to make singing in the choir a high priority and be a member of choir for the entire semester.

Attendance Policy

Membership in Harmonix is an honor. Singers are expected to participate for the entire semester – from first rehearsal to our Christmas performance. Each member plays an important part in the success and growth of the choir; therefore, consistent attendance is required.

Students will be allowed no more than 2 unexcused absences. Students exceeding these limits will be asked to leave the choir. An example of an excused absence would be for illness, death of a family member, and unavoidable schedule conflicts that have been communicated to your choir director and received prior approval.

Harmonix expects participants to commit to the entire semester and tuition is non-refundable. However, we understand extenuating circumstances may prohibit you from continued participation. Extenuating circumstances include a move out of the area, a death in the family, and other life-altering situations. In these situations, we will consider a refund on a case-by-case basis. Unexpected scheduling conflicts do not constitute an extenuating circumstance.

Tuition Policy

If a student’s tuition has not been paid by the date indicated in their selected payment schedule, that student will not be allowed to attend rehearsal until such time as tuition is paid.

Each missed rehearsal for unpaid tuition will be considered unexcused. After three unexcused absences, the student’s position will not be held. If you foresee difficulty meeting this payment schedule, please contact our office immediately. We will make every effort to work with you, but a payment plan must be established.

Concert Attire

TBD. For Spring 2021, because our Spring concert will likely be virtual, we anticipate that the student will be able to wear something that they already own. If they do not own something that fits the determined concert attire, we commit to finding an option that is $30 or less.

Performances

In Spring 2021, we are unsure what our Spring concert plans will be. Announcement regarding plans will be made after Spring Break.

When we are not meeting virtually, if invitations are received for other performances, they’re considered, & if accepted, announced ASAP. Additional performances are optional. We do not anticipate additional performances for Spring 2021.

Behavior

It is a priority of this choir to make sure that all students are safe and able to learn during class. For this reason, if there is a major behavior issue with a student, the director reserves the right to terminate a student’s participation in the choir without reimbursement.

Photo Release

By registering your student(s), you grant permission for Harmonix Homeschool Choirs to publish any photos & videos of your child/children for purposes that include, but are not limited to, promotional or informational uses.

We will make every effort to accommodate a special circumstance if you speak with us prior to registration.
